Grease is used when	Oil is used when
The temperature is not over 93°C	The temperature is over 93°C
Speeds are low	Speeds are high
Unusual protection is required from the entrance of debris	Oiltight seals are readily employed
Simple bearing seals are desired	Bearing type is not suitable for grease
Operation for long periods without attention is desired	The bearing is lubricated from a central supply that is also used for other machine parts
