Rate of Flow Formula

Rate of Flow (\( q \)):

\[ q = \frac{2 \pi K d (H - h)}{\log_e \frac{R}{r}} \]

Where:

  • \( q \) is the rate of flow, in cubic meters per second (m³/s).
  • \( K \) is the hydraulic conductivity, in meters per second (m/s).
  • \( d \) is the thickness of the confined layer, in meters (m).
  • \( H \) is the height of the static piezometric surface above the top of the water-bearing formation, in meters (m).
  • \( h \) is the height of the water in the well above the top of the water-bearing formation, in meters (m).
  • \( R \) is the radius of influence, in meters (m).
  • \( r \) is the radius of the well, in meters (m).
