• \( H_t \) is the total head loss, in feet (ft).
• \( H_s \) is the head loss due to elevation, in feet (ft).
• \( HL_{sp} \) is the friction loss on straight pipe, in feet (ft).
• \( HL_f \) is the head loss on fittings, in feet (ft).
