Wire Size Selection Calculator

Wire Size Formula

Wire Size (A):

\[ A = \frac{10.8 \cdot Nw \cdot L \cdot I}{Vd \cdot E} \]

Where:

  • \(A\) is the area of the wire in circular mills.
  • \(Nw\) is the number of wires.
  • \(L\) is the length of the wire in feet (ft).
  • \(I\) is the current flowing in amperes (A).
  • \(Vd\) is the allowable voltage drop (decimal, typically 0.02).
  • \(E\) is the voltage in volts (V).
